Seth Meyers breaks down Trump's long history as 'Conspiracy Theorist-In-Chief'
Watch Next

"Well, it was another super-chill weekend... with the president of the United States retweeting a deranged conspiracy theory accusing a previous president of murder."

Seth Meyers took "A Closer Look" on Monday night at Donald Trump's alarming tendency to repeat and signal-boost conspiracy theories, after the POTUS shared a tweet that linked the Clinton family to disgraced financier and accused sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's apparent death by suicide in his prison cell over the weekend.

Meyers led into the Epstein tweet by reminding us not only of Trump's stubborn persistence nearly a decade ago in promoting birther conspiracies against Barack Obama, but also the fact that even now Trump drops right-wing conspiracy theories around Hispanic immigration, voter fraud, and Jewish people into his public remarks.

It isn't news that Trump loves a tinfoil hat. But when you lay his patterns out the way Meyers does here, it all adds up to a genuinely scary picture of the mind of the man in the big round room.

"Trump's penchant for peddling insane conspiracy theories isn't just a weird personality quirk," as Meyers says. "It has real consequences for real people."
