How many men does it take to do a woman's job? Director John Madden's upcoming Miss Sloane asks that question in reverse, by presenting the titular protagonist on a determined mission: To lobby for stricter gun control no matter who or what gets in her way.

Jessica Chastain starts as the eponymous lobbyist, possessed of a focused energy that radiates through the trailer and in her interspersed monologues to the camera about strategy. She's joined in the trailer by Mark Strong, Sam Waterston and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, all of whom are stunned if not slightly reverent of her character's audacity. Despite her unflinching stance on an issue that saves lives, it's Sloane who seems most dangerous in a trailer full of white men who love their guns.

Miss Sloane will be in theaters Dec. 9.
