A material used to weld metals together wouldn't normally be something you'd consider relaxing — but watching molten thermite fall through water in the latest video from The Slow Mo Guys is actually a fairly soothing experience.

In the video above, Gav (without Dan again due to coronavirus travel restrictions, and adopting his best "don't try this at home" voice) sets fire to a pot of thermite suspended above a tank of water. The thermite burns brightly, melts through the bottom of the pot — and then when it hits the water, sweet slow motion magic happens.

Watching the molten liquid drift to the bottom of the tank is like watching the special effects in a sci-fi movie.
