The classic game of shooting the crap out of alien invaders while eluding their hailstorm of space bullets gets a facelift in Mothergunship.

The upcoming FPS from Grip Digital and Terrible Posture Games looks to borrow heavily from the "shoot 'em up" genre, first popularized in the '80s by Space Invaders. This one looks like it has more in common with the chaos of more modern "shmups" (as they're often called) like Ikaruga or Geometry Wars, filling every inch of your screen with fiery alien death.

Surviving in these types of games is a matter of finding whatever narrow paths form between all the bullets as they undulate across the screen in unpredictable waves. Mothergunship looks to do the same, but you see it all from a first-person perspective.

It'll be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at some point -- it's been in development for about a year already -- so keep an eye out.
