Set in 1938 on the brink of World War II, Netflix's upcoming spy thriller Munich — The Edge of War looks every bit as tense as you'd imagine it to be.

Based on the Robert Harris novel Munich, the movie follows British diplomat Hugh Legat (George Mackay) on a mission to retrieve an important document from the heart of Nazi Germany at the bidding of prime minister Neville Chamberlain (Jeremy Irons). The film comes from director Christian Schwochow, who directed the "Tywysog Cymru" and "Coup" episodes of The Crown.

Expect backstabbing and subterfuge aplenty.

Munich — The Edge of War lands on Netflix Jan. 21.
