If you're a fan of Rob Zombie and you've never heard of The Munsters, the House of 1000 Corpses director's next project may come as a surprise.

The Munsters is a 1960s sitcom that ran for 70 episodes across two seasons — TV math used to be very different — as it told light-hearted stories about the titular family's struggles to navigate polite society. That's gonna happen in a house where the mom is a vampire, the dad is a Frankenstein's monster-inspired creature, the grandpa is an aging Count Dracula, and the son is a werewolf.

Just like The Addams Family, The Munsters carried an implicitly wholesome message that what's in your heart matters more than how you look. It's a definitive step away from Zombie's typical fare of torture porn and graphic backwoods horror. But this teaser, which is mostly a recreation of the original TV show's opening credits, complete with the same surf-rock theme, suggests the upcoming 2022 release will be a faithful (if modernized) take on the classic TV family.

Rob Zombie's The Munsters stars Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa. It's set for a streaming-only release later in 2022.

UPDATE: Jun. 8, 2022, 5:05 p.m. EDT An earlier version of this story incorrectly noted that "The Munsters" will be released in theaters and for streaming. That was an error. "The Munsters" is a streaming-only release.
