In a heartwarming video, NBC and the cast of the new show Rise revealed the recipients of NBC's R.I.S.E. America Project grant program for high school theater programs around the country.

The video above shows a few of the submission videos from the 50 high schools that received $10,000 each from R.I.S.E. America Project – including Mariposa County High School, which was heavily affected by the California fires that ravaged the state in 2017. The grant program was inspired by NBC's new drama Rise and falls within National Theatre in Our Schools month.

Auli’i Cravalho (Lilette) and Damon J. Gillespie (Robbie) told the winning high schools that they were selected for the grant, leading to some emotional responses from students and teachers in the theatre programs.

Rise airs on Tuedays at 9 p.m. ET and PT on NBC.
