Netflix has dropped a trailer for its anime adaptation of Capcom's beloved hack and slash action role-playing video game Dragon's Dogma, and it looks intense.

Directed and produced by Shin'ya Sugai at Sublimation, Netflix's version centres around Ethan, who loses his home and family (and his actual heart) to a dragon and swears revenge, accompanied by a protective Pawn who's quite handy with a bow and arrow. But the road to vengeance isn't exactly an easy one, as each monster he fights compromises a little of his humanity.

Dragon's Dogma lands Sept. 17 on Netflix.
