Well, that's what Netflix's upcoming spooky thriller Nightbooks might have you thinking, with the trailer channelling Goosebumps energy with a little more edge to it. Evil Dead's Sam Raimi is producing, and there are plenty of jump scares.
Jessica Jones' Krysten Ritter plays a frankly terrifying witch who traps Alex (Winslow Fegley), a kid obsessed with scary stories, and demands he write a new one every night or he's toast. Alex finds Yasmin (Lidya Jewett) also trapped in this strange, magical apartment, and they've got to get out of there before The End.
