Netflix's 'Thunder Force' trailer sees Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer becoming superheroes

Yes, it's the basis of pretty much every superhero origin story ever, but what would really happen if the average person were to one day develop superpowers?

This is the joke at the heart of Netflix's Thunder Force, an action/comedy from Ben Falcone in which two childhood friends (Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer) gain super strength and invisibility after one of them develops a new genetic platform that can modify ordinary human beings.

Cue plenty of mayhem, some botched attempts to stop bad guys and a memorably clawed appearance from half human/half crab Jason Bateman.

Thunder Force lands on Netflix on April 9.
