A new trailer for the Apple TV+ series Dickinson starts off with a tattooed Emily Dickinson as the star attraction at a 19th century circus and only gets weirder from there.

Hailee Steinfeld's Emily shocks and provokes her friends and family by refusing to conform to society's expectations of women, leading to a series of girl power moments that culminate in Emily vowing to be remembered long past her time.

The new clip also gives audiences a good look at John Mulaney as Henry David Thoreau, who espoused similar idea to Dickinson (and was, fun fact, her fifth cousin once removed).

Dickinson premieres on Apple TV+ November 1.
