Researchers from the RIKEN guardian robot project in Japan have conducted an emotion recognition study using an android head, called Nikola, to see if humans can recognize the feelings it's trying to convey.
Nikola can express six different emotions: happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise, and disgust.
