Laina Morris, best known as the face of the Overly Attached Girlfriend meme, uploaded her last video to YouTube on Wednesday.

In the video, the 28-year-old YouTube star detailed her reasons for leaving the platform, many of which were mental health-related. In particular, she discussed her experience with depression, which began shortly after her viral video took off. "I felt a lot of pressure to make up my mind career-wise," she said. "I couldn't do it confidently and it really stressed me out."

Morris was also candid about her struggle to begin taking medication, a transition she found surprisingly difficult. Now, though, she's glad she made the right decision for her.

"There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking medication because you are doing nothing but helping yourself," she said. "All that means it that you're willing to do anything you can do to help yourself."

The Overly Attached Girlfriend video, which Morris filmed as an entry for a Justin Bieber fan contest, blew up in 2012 after it found its way to Reddit. The video jumpstarted Morris' career, which included television appearances, red carpet hosting gigs, and a successful YouTube channel with over 1.2 million subscribers.

Until Wednesday, Morris hadn't posted to that channel in 11 months -- before that, her only video since 2017 was titled "oops it's been a year." She addressed these gaps in her goodbye video. After a difficult move, she explained, she wanted to take a short break from her channel, but the break ended up longer than she expected. "Taking a small break turned into not posting for an entire year," she said. "Since that last video, it's been another year, and I've gone to therapy and I've really thought this through."

Morris also made it clear that her reasons for leaving YouTube are manifold, and that -- despite her sadness at closing her channel -- she knows it's the right decision for her.

"I've just grown up and my life has changed and my priorities have changed," she said. "My relationship with YouTube honestly started to become more negative than positive ... I know that this part of my life is done and that it's time to say goodbye."
