CBS Films and Lionsgate have released the first trailer for Patriots Day, a drama about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that could prove to be a dark horse in this year's Oscar race.
Patriots Day reunites director Peter Berg with his Deepwater Horizon star Mark Wahlberg, who leads an ensemble cast that includes John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons and Michelle Monaghan.
The film is the powerful story of a community’s courage in the face of terror. “The courage and stories of the survivors, first responders and other organizations who stepped up that morning and every day since are the inspiration for this film,” said Berg.
Patriots Day opens in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 21 before opening nationwide on Jan. 13.
