If you couldn't get enough of Ti West's '70s slasher X, you'll be delighted to know that a prequel — starring X's Mia Goth — is on its way.

Pearl is the origin story for X's villain of the same name, an old woman whose role as the film's "monster" garnered criticism from Mashable's Jess Joho for "perpetuat[ing] male-centric cinema's revulsion toward the wrinkled naked female form." In the prequel, however, we see Pearl as a young woman willing to do anything for stardom, whether that means literally fighting other young women for the role of a lifetime or feeding family members to hungry crocodiles.

What else will she do for fame? Who knows — the world is Pearl's gory oyster.

Pearl is in theaters Sept. 16.
