Participants in the People's Climate March are gearing up for what they hope will be a dramatic showdown in Washington, D.C.

On April 29, thousands of people are expected to show up in the nation's capital -- plus 85 satellite cities -- to clamor for climate action and protest the Trump administration's efforts to unravel U.S. environmental policies.

To drum up support, the Sierra Club this week released an emotional video that mixes scenes of natural splendor with oil spills, smokestacks, and chemical leaks. Darren Aronofsky directed the short film, and actors Chloë Sevigny and Joseph Gordon-Levitt provide the (very deep) voiceovers.

The April 29 march coincides with President Donald Trump's 100th day in office.

"We're saying, 'We resist you, and in fact there's a better way to go forward,'" Paul Getsos, national coordinator of the Peoples Climate March, said by phone. "We have the solutions, and our solutions will create a more fair, clean, renewable energy economy."

Separately, on April 22, scientists and their allies will join the March for Science, though many people are expected to attend both events.
