The Quantum Revolution has a new champion, and it's Zoe Saldana. In "Quantum is Calling," a short film collaboration between Caltech, Cinestar and Trouper Productions, Saldana loses Simon Pegg's cat in the quantum realm and uses physics and deduction to get him back.

Earlier this year, Caltech's Institute of Quantum Information and Matter blended science and entertainment with "Anyone Can Quantum." "Quantum is Calling" also partners with the Kavli Nanoscience Institute.

When Pegg's cat disappears, Saldana goes straight to the top for help. She Skypes Dr. Stephen Hawking (after a failed attempt to contact Paul Rudd) to decipher the riddle of Schrodinger's ransom.

The video, directed by Alex Winter, is full of nerdy little tidbits, including cameos from Keanu Reeves (or his voice, at least) and John Cho and the fact that Zoe's email notification on her laptop is "KHAAAAN!" And it asks the eternal existential question: Is cat sitting worth it?
