In these trying times, 10 days can make a big difference. That's what Italians in a new video from Milan-based film collective "A THING BY" want viewers to understand about the coronavirus pandemic.

Within a short period of time, Italy has become the second-most-affected country.

The video, which features testimonials from Italians, is meant to serve as a cautionary tale for those in other countries that could soon see a similar fate as Italy, should preventative measures go un-followed.

Once cavalier about the severity of COVID-19, the official term for the disease caused by the virus, Italians in the video encourage their past selves to stop underestimating the threat it poses.

"The worst case scenario? That's exactly what will happen," one woman said.

Knowing what they know now, those in the video want to make clear to their past selves that they should heed the warnings of public health officials.

"I know China is far away but this virus is faster than you think so maybe re-think your Saturday night plans," one man said to his past self. "And who knows? Maybe had you stayed at home then I wouldn't have to be home now."

After those in the video explain to their past selves what it feels like to now be quarantined, the video ends with a simple message for other countries: "We underestimated this. You don't have to do the same. Stay at home."
