The fourth and final season of Mr. Robot is set to descend, and it appears everyone's as exhausted as they are IRL.

Lead star Rami Malek gave The Late Show's Stephen Colbert a sneak peek at a scene from the new series, in which he returns as computer hacker Elliot Alderson alongside Christian Slater as Mr. Robot.

"We are back at it, fiercely, in a showdown with our arch-nemesis White Rose," he said, promising the final season would be bittersweet, and "equal to or better" than his favourite season: the first.

Between landing his breakout role on the show, which debuted 2015, Malek has become a formidable superstar, winning an Academy Award in 2019 for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Amazing what a few years and pure talent can do.

Malek also speaks about his role as the villain in the new James Bond film, No Time to Die, but doesn't give too much away. There is a kiss though.

Season 4 of Mr. Robot lands Oct. 6.
