No one wants to be a Jerry. But former SNL cast member Chris Parnell does a pretty great job of portraying the man who crawled his way out of a violent government collapse in the Season 3 premiere.

And Adult Swim Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland (the man behind both titular characters voices) isn't afraid to give Jerry some much-needed love. Watch their exchange in this Mashable exclusive "Inside the Recording Booth" session from the upcoming Season 3 Blue-ray and DVD.

In true Rick and Morty fashion, it's both cringingly awkward and heartwarmingly tender. Jerry had a rough go of it in Season 3, what with his divorce and that wolf eating his unemployment check. So a little positive reinforcement from the boss man can't hurt.

The Rick and Morty Season 3 Blu-ray drops on May 15, with other extras like celebrity commentary from John Mayer, Inside the Episodes, and a short on the origins of the show.
