It's difficult to imagine, but from the sounds of it David Brent: Life on the Road could be even more cringe-inducing than The Office was.
Following the release of the first teaser trailer on Thursday, Ricky Gervais spoke more about the film with presenter Greg James on BBC Radio 1.
"It's really cringy," Gervais explains in the clip. "The world's changed; it's worse than The Office."
Gervais goes on to say that Life on the Road will reveal what David Brent went through after The Office, and what he's going through now.
"Now, we're in a world where people get on The Apprentice by saying: 'I will destroy anyone who stands in my way'. And he's in a room full of alpha males. And he's almost bullied.
"He's in his 50s now... it's more tragic, and sadder."
