In case you missed it yesterday, Ruby Rose has been cast as Batwoman in a standalone TV series set to debut on the CW in 2019.

Rose revealed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that she found out about her role just an hour before the premiere for her new shark movie The Meg, trying to hold back tears at the event.

"I feel like the reason I kept getting so emotional, is because growing up, watching TV, I never saw someone on TV I could identify with, let alone a superhero," Rose said.

The Australian actor added that one of her goals when she entered into the industry was to "be the person that you needed when you were younger."

But what she's especially looking forward to is dressing up as Batwoman, meeting kids at hospitals who will very likely look up to her.

"It's an amazing opportunity, obviously," she said.
