Life comes at you fast, hey?

One day you're the CEO of a small, remote shire in Western Australia. The next, your town is a viral sensation thanks to a Facebook video of road-paving -- a video that now boasts more than 14 million views and counting.

Such is the twist of fate experienced by Alan Leeson, chief executive of the shire of Moora.

It was Leeson's idea to shoot the video of the paving, he explained to Mashable via email. "I instructed our works supervisor (aka drone pilot extraordinaire) Trevor Longman to drag out the shire's drone which we purchased last year and capture the finishing touches to Airstrip Road."

The clip was uploaded to the Moora Facebook page shortly after -- though Leeson had no idea the reception it would soon receive. "We uploaded it for the local community's benefit really," Leeson said. "Just to promote the great work our staff do."

Even though he might not have expected the video's massive response, Leeson is taking the extra attention focused on Moora in his stride.

"We are massively proud and surprised," he said. "[We're] very pleased that our Shire and staff [have gotten] the kudos they richly deserve. It's all about promoting Moora shire as a great place to work and live."

Turns out the web has been crying out for some good ol' fashioned road-paving.
