Merry Christmas, from hell: Santa army fights penguin empire in epic virtual war

We know that Santa Claus is a magical figure, but apparently when it comes to nature, he is powerless. At least that's the case in this epic virtual battle for Christmas supremacy pitting a clone army of 4,000 Santas against the collected might 11,000 penguins. And yes, there are forlorn "ho, ho, ho's," sounds of murderous bird squawking and even blood. Rivers. Of. Blood.

The dark take on Christmas is actually a demo from a new game called Epic Battle Simulator that lets you take masses of one kind of character and have that group wage war against another. In an earlier demo, the developer showed a horde of chickens versus the Roman empire as well as that old classic of zombies versus humans.

The game recently soared up the rankings on Steam Greenlight, the Steam gaming community project that lets users help decide which new games get released.
