Season 1 of Schmigadoon! paid tribute to Golden Age musicals like Oklahoma! and The Music Man. Coming soon, Season 2 ushers us into a new era, with homages to '60s and '70s musicals that tended toward a darker side of Broadway.

Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) return to Schmigadoon to try to experience the magic they once felt there. However, they soon find that Schmigadoon is no more. Instead, they two-step into Schmicago, a city where sex and murder are around every corner. And so is Tituss Burgess, joining the ensemble that includes the return of Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit.

Based on the trailer, we'll be seeing homages to classics like Chicago, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, and even Hair, as Josh and Melissa fight a murder charge and — once again — try to find their way back home.

Season 2 of Schmigadoon! premieres April 5 on Apple TV+
