'A Mobius strip of bulls**t': Seth Meyers unpacks the Fox-Trump pandemic misinformation loop

On Monday night, Seth Meyers took a Closer Look at the feedback loop that exists between Fox News and President Donald Trump. Trump famously likes to hire people or suggest random ideas after seeing them on Fox, brags about his coronavirus briefings' "ratings," and reportedly had an Oval Office meeting about hydroxychloroquine with Fox personality Laura Ingraham and two doctors who appear on her show.

"So a Fox host with no medical expertise is directly advising the president on a deadly pandemic while that same president hires pundits he sees on TV and fires or punishes actual experts and inspector-generals who criticize him," Meyers summed up. "This is what you get when you make a TV star president — because when you're on TV, no-one ever tells you you're wrong."

The latest example of the Fox-White House circular human centipede is Trump's fourth official press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany. The former Fox producer and commentator held her first press briefing on May 1, and when asked by a pool reporter, promised she would never lie from the briefing room podium.

"Wow, she managed to break her promise before she finished making her promise," sighed Meyers. "It's like a Mobius strip of bullshit."
