"It's not all of what America is..." Late Night host Seth Meyers said on Thursday. "But it is very much a part of what America is."

The world is still reeling from the apparent attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol this week, the culmination of years of dangerous rhetoric espoused by President Donald Trump and his followers. Five people have been confirmed dead in the wake of Wednesday's events, while multiple lawmakers have called for Trump to be impeached — again.

"The people responsible for this violence must be held accountable from the top down," said Meyers, reiterating his comments from the previous day. "They should be removed from the White House and expelled from Congress."

Meanwhile, the FBI is crowdsourcing tips to help them identify anyone who instigated violence. Which, of course, prompted Meyers to play back some odious highlights of Trump's and Rudy Giuliani's incendiary speeches

"The president's lawyer told a crowd of supporters he wants a 'trial by combat' — but sure, we're the ones being hysterical by calling this a coup," quipped Meyers.

Meyers further mocked "America's dumbest potato goblin" Giuliani for leaving a voicemail asking Republican senator Tommy Tuberville to stall the election certification — on a different senator's voicemail.

"This Rudy story is a useful reminder that just because these people are braindead morons with sludge in their skulls doesn't mean they're not also violent seditionists," said Meyers. "It can be a coup even though most of the people leading the coup are dumb. I'm pretty sure there were also some real fucking dipshits in the Confederacy too."
