Seth Meyers incredulously roasts the idea of Trump joining Mount Rushmore

The U.S. now has almost 5 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, and over 160,000 deaths — the worst coronavirus death toll of any country in the world. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump's White House reportedly tried to find out how another president could be added to Mount Rushmore. In retrospect, it's only surprising they didn't ask sooner.

"That's like going up to a priest after Mass and asking him, 'So what's the process for adding someone to the Trinity?'" quipped Late Night host Seth Meyers on Monday. "'What if it was like, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Dan?'"

Trump denied making this request of course, but also tweeted that it "sounds like a good idea to [him]."

"Even if there was a process to get on Mount Rushmore, I'm pretty sure presiding over the preventable deaths of 160,000 Americans and the worst economic crash since the Great Depression would be disqualifying," said Meyers. "That's like asking your boss at Chipotle when you're getting your Employee of the Month plaque after you get caught stirring the guacamole with your skateboard."

Meyers also noted that, even without the devastating pandemic, Trump hasn't had many positive achievements in his time as president.

"So instead, he decided to start taking credit for his predecessor's accomplishments," said Meyers, referring to Trump's claim that he signed the Veterans' Choice Act. Predictably, this is a provable lie, as the act was actually signed by Barack Obama in 2014.

"He had repeated this lie, according to CNN, more than 150 times, which is just a level of dedication to lying that I can't even comprehend," said Meyers. "He's the Lance Armstrong of lying, which is saying a lot since Lance Armstrong is also the Lance Armstrong of lying."
