Seth Meyers says Trump news stories are like zombies: “This is how he wears us down”

Seth Meyers wants you to remember just how weird things are.

Donald Trump has been distracting himself in the week leading up to Robert Mueller’s Senate testimony by ramping up the racist rhetoric in one breath and then trying to walk it back in the next.

In the clip above from Late Night, Meyers points out that what many people didn’t hear over the chants and denials was the revelation of another potential crime “that almost certainly would have landed [him] in a courtroom were he not the president” -- and that there’s no way anyone believes Trump’s claim that he’ll only watch “a little bit” of Mueller's testimony on Wednesday.

“Nobody believes you when you say you’re not going to be watching the Mueller hearings," the Late Night host points out. "If the Mueller hearings weren’t on, you’d be live-tweeting Days of our Lives.”

Meyers goes on to break down not only why Trump isn't being indicted for pretty indictable-seeming offences, but also exactly how we’ve become numb to the endless waves of allegations against the president.

“The president was allegedly involved in the cover-up of a crime in the last weeks of the presidential election and it wasn’t even, like, in the top ten news stories last week,” Meyers explains. “It’s like being in a zombie movie. Anybody can outrun one zombie, but when your city is crawling with zombies it’s like, **** it, just eat me.”
