La La Land. Carol. Manchester by the Sea. They're all critically acclaimed films. And they were all shamelessly released right before Oscar season.

To be fair, so was "Oscar Bait," a new Seth Meyers clip that pokes fun at the curious annual influx of poignant cinema around Nov. 1. Yes, all the trappings of an Oscar nominee are here: jarring visual effects, a child actor with three names and a rare disease called "balloon foot," for example.
