Seth Meyers explains why Trump can't stop lying about that Alabama hurricane tweet
Watch Next

We're now several days into the Hurricane Dorian crisis threatening to engulf the nation -- no, not the actual huge and destructive storm that made landfall in North Carolina on Thursday night. The president's made clear that the much more pressing concern is that everyone knows his tweet claiming Dorian would impact Alabama was actually totally correct and not, in fact, extremely wrong.

Seth Meyers took a Closer Look at Trump's pattern of aggressive, nonsensical lying and corncobbing whenever he's clearly made a mistake but won't admit it -- from the "Tim Apple" incident to #Sharpiegate and his hilariously transparent denial of any knowledge about the doctored map.

"This whole thing captures the constant, exhausting bewilderment of living through the Trump era," Meyers summarised. "There's a very real, a very real humanitarian crisis unfolding in the Bahamas, and a dangerous hurricane is threatening the mainland US. Meanwhile the president is obsessing about a map he doctored to defend an embarrassing mistake that he is now repeatedly lying about."
