Seth Meyers roasts Rush Limbaugh for praising cannibals as coronavirus role models

"It is impossible to watch what is unfolding right now under this administration and avoid the conclusion that America is in free fall," said Late Night host Seth Meyers on Wednesday.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to lay waste to the U.S. with no signs of abating. The country has had over 3.3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, with the death toll now surpassing 135,000. So, in this time of fear and uncertainty, President Donald Trump held a press conference yesterday to mindlessly bleat about how great he is and how terrible his opponents are.

"And of course the coronavirus pandemic — you know, that ongoing crisis that has left the country in ruins — barely, barely came up at all," said Meyers. "He basically ignored it. That's like the fire department showing up to a burning house just to sell you their new calendar."

However, shockingly, the latest of Trump's "trademark psychotic meltdowns" was not the most unhinged thing a Republican said on Tuesday. Meyers also mocked radio host and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Rush Limbaugh for presenting the Donner Party as an example of adaptability Millennials should learn from.

"Guys, I really wish I was exaggerating, but, yeah, I'm not," said Meyers.

Just to be clear, the people Limbaugh apparently considers role models "adapted" to getting trapped in the Sierra Nevada mountain range by resorting to cannibalism. Notably, it mightn't have come to that if the Donner Party hadn't ignored expert advice.

"Finally, the Republicans have found a message to run on," said Meyers. "'Trump 2020: Your neighbours are delicious!'"
