The all-black protest at last weekend's Golden Globes put red carpet commentators in the awkward position of having to balance lighthearted fashion talk with sober conversations about sexual harassment – and not everyone pulled it off.

Of course Saturday Night Live noticed, and of course the sketch comedy series took aim at it in the most recent episode.

Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and host Sam Rockwell play three E! hosts who try, and mostly fail, to rebrand as a more "fashion-positive" red-carpet rundown. As Strong's Rochelle Koontz giggles nervously, "The times are changing, and we're trying to keep up!"

That means describing female stars as looking "empowered" while shaming a feminist activist (played by Melissa Villaseñor) for saying she looks "beautiful," and gushing that "she definitely looks as good as a man, if not better." Another host chimes in, "I don't even see a dress. I see a CEO."

It also means two of the hosts blurt out their salaries at the same time, only to discover that the woman makes waaaay less than her male colleague. And that the whole segment ends by encouraging viewers to "stay tuned for an all-new episode of Fat Whores of Miami Beach."

Turns out shallow, Twitter-friendly attempts at feminism only go so far.
