History documents the difficulties of war-time, and then there's Saturday Night Live's "The War in Words" series, detailing fictitious letters between soldiers and their loved ones.

In the latest installment, featuring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Fleabag creator plays Lydia, the dutiful and eccentric wife of William (Mikey Day). At first, she responds to his lengthy and loving letters with just a couple words, willfully oblivious to her husband's desperation for distraction, but things start to take a turn after she sends him a generous lock of hair.

As the letters continue, we learn that Lydia has probably lost the dog, not told William about the deaths of both his parents, and eventually sends their child to a war zone. She also never explains "the Hitler of it all" after appearing in a Nazi propaganda reel to pass the lonely wartime. Lydia, u ok??
