Teethgate aside, the latest batch of Sonic the Hedgehog films will, to me, be completely fine movies with absolutely and shockingly killer cast performances. Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik is one of his most gloriously ridiculous and underrated roles to date. The second film saw Idris Elba crushing it as Knuckles, so much so he got his own Paramount+ show out of it.

For the third film in the franchise, Keanu Reeves joins the cast as Shadow the Hedgehog, having made a cheeky cameo in Sonic 2. And folks, we've finally got a look at Sonic the Hedgehog 3, directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington.

Alyla Browne is playing Maria Robotnik, an important figure in Shadow's story. Ben Schwartz is back voicing Sonic alongside Colleen O'Shaughnessey voicing Tails. Elba and Carrey are also back for the third film, as well as James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Sonic's human adoptive parents Tom and Maddie Wachowski.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits cinemas Dec. 21.
