As part of a social experiment, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam recently disguised himself as a middle-aged man and performed the streets of Mumbai. The video by YouTube channel Being Indian shows Nigam using prosthetics and makeup to don the appearance of an ageing street performer.

As Nigam belted out some of his own hit numbers, several people paused to stop and listen to his singing. Later, a large crowd even gathered around to hear him croon, but no one actually managed to recognise him. One admirer even offered him breakfast and gave him Rs 12 as a mark of his appreciation. On Twitter, Nigam called the performance his "most surreal and uninhibited experience".

"I thought I should come out to present my music to all of you," Nigam adds at the end of the video. The 12 rupees he received from his fan has also been framed in his office as a memento.
