'Star Wars: Battlefront II' trailer leaks early, looks amazing

Our first look at the next chapter in EA's Star Wars: Battlefront series is here, a little earlier than expected. We'll take it.

The short, 30-second commercial clip crams in quite a few details if you look closely -- as Star Wars fans are already doing, naturally.

First, we have the protagonist of the single-player campaign, who appears to be an Imperial soldier whose story unfolds after the events of Return of the Jedi. This is an era rarely touched in the new, post-Disney Star Wars canon.

As this unnamed character reflects on her "last orders" after Emperor Palpatine's death, you can see the second Death Star exploding in the sky above Endor.

Then we get a few quick glimpses at tie fighters zooming through space -- suggesting that there will be opportunities for space battles between the dying Empire and the new Republic.

The trailer confirms that the game will take place across all eras, which probably refers to the multiplayer part of the game. Here we have some notable cameos.

Darth Maul faces off against Yoda -- a battle that could never have happened in the Prequel trilogy. Rey from The Force Awakens runs by explosions, and finally Kylo Ren turns to face the camera.

Before wrapping up, we're given one last detail: the game will include The Last Jedi heroes as a pre-order bonus.

We'll bring you more news about Battlefront II this weekend at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida -- which is likely when this ad was meant to run.
