If you've yet to watch the video of CNN's Anderson Cooper announcing that he's become a dad, then we suggest you go and do it posthaste (the whole thing is pretty darn adorable, and exactly the kind of feel-good content everyone needs at the moment).
"I watched it and I was deeply moved by it, I thought it was very beautiful," says Colbert in the Late Late Show interview above, before asking Cooper how he feels now, one week in.
"It's extraordinary. It's astonishing. I just stare at him, and hold him, and I just can't believe that he's going to depend on me, and that he's here — it's just astonishing," Cooper says back. "I mean I've always dreamed about it, but I never thought I'd be able to do it. It's just been incredible."
Colbert goes on to say that it's difficult to describe the feeling of seeing your child for the very first time.
"It's like tectonic plates shifting, except it doesn't leave you in rubble," replies Cooper.
