Stephen Colbert uses the perfect 'Avengers' reference to slam Trump

Stephen Colbert's new segment, "Don and the Giant Impeach," doesn't appear to be running out of material anytime soon.

During The Late Show on Tuesday, Colbert analysed Trump's recent appearance on Fox News, where the president attempted to casually brush off his now infamous phone call with the president of Ukraine.

"It's one thing if you commit a real crime — this was a conversation, it wasn't even a big deal," Trump says in the clip. "'Hey, how you doin', blah blah blah.'"

"Well yeah, everything sounds innocent if you replace it with 'Blah, blah, blah'," responds Colbert. "I mean remember this scene from Avengers?"

Cut to a clip of Thanos explaining how much he'll "enjoy" annihilating the planet to Captain America — only with the last half of his speech casually replaced with "blah blah blah," Trump style.

"Thanos did nothing wrong," shrugs Colbert. "Thanos did nothing wrong."
