In case you didn't know, Stephen Colbert is a pretty big Lord of the Rings fan. And despite the fact he spends his days hanging out with famous people, he's still pretty star-struck when he interviews Cate Blanchett in the clip above.

"I just want to get something out of the way that I've always meant to say to you when you're on the show," says Colbert at the start of the interview. "You have to just endure this for just one second. There are some fantastic performances in The Lord of the Rings, but perhaps only two perfect performances: Ian McKellen as Gandalf and you as Galadriel."

You can literally see the excitement in his face as he's speaking to her, which peaks when Blanchett tells him he would have played the role "so beautifully".

He certainly would have given it 110 percent.
