Stephen Colbert asks Trump to stop 'slowly poisoning' himself with hydroxychloroquine

In the latest step in our global march toward chaos, President Donald Trump has now said he is taking antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a preventative measure against COVID-19. Medical experts have emphatically advised that this is not a thing people should do, however it seems Trump puts more weight on "a lot of positive calls" he claims to get about it.

"For the sake of his children I hope he's not getting a lot of positive calls about Clorox," said Late Show host Stephen Colbert on Monday, before earnestly asking Trump to stop "slowly poisoning himself with the Dr. Jekyll method."

Trump also removed the Inspector General of the State Department Steve Linick on Friday, reportedly at Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's request. Linick, it should be noted, was investigating whether Pompeo was using government staffers to run his personal errands.

When asked about the dismissal, Trump basically shrugged his shoulders and said he was just doing what Pompeo told him to. Which, of course, is exactly the sort of attitude you'd want in a U.S. president.

"'Don't look at me, I have no idea what's going on. They just prop me up here in front of the cameras and I do the things that they tell me,'" said Colbert, imitating Trump. "'Oh that reminds me, hand me the nuclear football. I've heard a lot of negative phone calls about China.'"
