Stephen Colbert has some serious beef with the people who make emoji

In case you missed the news, a bunch of new emoji dropped recently as part of iOS 14.5, and during The Late Show on Thursday, Stephen Colbert was quick to share his thoughts.

But after cracking a few jokes about new melting face smiley, it was clear he had other motives for bringing the topic up — namely his own similarity to the 2017 "face with one eyebrow raised" emoji, which he demonstrates via the perfect split screen in the clip above (jump to 10:15).

"People thought this looked so much like me it was literally dubbed the 'Colbert emoji'," the host said. "He was so connected to me — and this is true — that if you merely typed Colbert into a text message, it suggested the eyebrow raised emoji automatically — but now, all of a sudden, it don't do that anymore. What the hell, emoji people?!"

Still, Colbert has a way to clear up the issue — a "demand", as he calls it: "If you're going to take away my eyebrow raised emoji, give me melty face."

Once again this is an expression he's practiced, and once again the likeness is uncanny (jump to 11:50)

Your move, emoji creators.
