Stephen Colbert explains what a retweet actually is, because Trump doesn't seem to know

Donald Trump has understandably copped a pile of condemnation for sharing a tweet by comedian Terrence K Williams with a conspiracy theory linking the Clintons to the death of Jeffrey Epstein in prison over the weekend. As Seth Meyers earlier noted, imagine if FDR accused Herbert Hoover of being a lizard-alien?

So when Trump tried to deflect responsibility by saying the tweet "that wasn't from me, that was from him [Williams]" Stephen Colbert stepped in to explain to the Most Online President Ever why that's not kosher, as you would chastise a parent who shared a shitty meme.

"First of all: It was from you!," Colbert exclaimed. "A retweet is from you! That's how it works!"

He then brings in an analogy involving a borrowed knife and the word "re-stabbed", so that's where The Discourse is at today.

(A simple "RTs ≠ endorsements" in the bio might also have done the trick, but apparently even Trump isn't Online enough to know about the standard disclaimer.)
