In the midst of the Notre-Dame blaze in Paris, Donald Trump suggested on Twitter that fire authorities use "flying water tankers" to douse the flames.

We know now that wasn't good advice, with French authorities explaining such a tactic would compromise the building's entire structure, as Stephen Colbert highlighted on Thursday in his opening monologue.

"For firefighters, they really know how to give a sick burn," Colbert joked.

The late show host also paid tribute to the cathedral's Rose windows, which were replicated in the studio. Firefighters managed to save the windows, which date back to the 13th century.
