Stephen Colbert calls Trump's racist tweets what they are: racist

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert is back from a brief hiatus and he's already hit out at Donald Trump's "new personal best in being the worst."

On Sunday, the president hit a new low when he "pinched out a steaming pile of tweets" and follow-up comments against four young, progressive Congresswomen of color — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley.

The four, known collectively as "The Squad," all happen to be American citizens, three of whom who were born in the U.S., but that didn't stop Trump from issuing what the four called a "blatantly racist attack" on them.

"If that strikes you as a little racist, you do not know the meaning of the word little," said Colbert of Trump's tweets, which said the four should "go back" to the countries they came from. "It's so full, it's a burrito of wrongness."

Colbert took particular issue with Trump's comment that The Squad are "telling the people of the United States ... how our government is to be run."

"What does he mean? 'They're telling us how our government is to be run?' They're in Congress. They are our government," he continued. "It is insulting to these women to even have to defend them from these ridiculous racist accusations, and that's the problem."
