Stephen Colbert unpacks Trump envoy's decision to hit undo on his testimony

After hearing that his State Department friends like Bill Taylor had testified otherwise, Gordon Sondland, U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, has officially hit Apple + z and revised his testimony that there was no quid pro quo in Donald Trump's dealings with Ukraine.

Turns out, as Stephen Colbert pointed out on The Late Show, Sondland seeing his colleagues testifying to congressional impeachment investigators had "refreshed my recollection about certain conversations."

After easily mocking Sondland's apparent sudden need to, you know, avoid going to jail for perjury, and gleefully breaking down the released transcript, Colbert used every time-worn expression in the book to point out that the ambassador's updated statement isn't great news for the president.

"That is game, set, match, all she wrote, the fat lady has sung, other sports metaphors I don't really understand, Goodbye Mr. Spalding, take the rock to the rim, it's over now, so drink that big black cow and get outta here!" Colbert said.

The late night show host also unpacked the weird moment in Sondland's testimony, in which he described a Brussels dinner party which Ukrainian President Zelensky reportedly attended, alongside the president of Poland, Jared Kushner, and... comedian Jay Leno.

Huh.
