Trump seems to bring controversy with him wherever he goes, and that includes the simple act of pardoning turkeys.
In the clip above from Tuesday night's The Late Show, Stephen Colbert kicked things off by discussing Bread and Butter — the two turkeys up for pardoning as part of the annual pre-Thanksgiving tradition.
"A great moment for Butter," says Colbert, after showing a clip of him being selected for freedom. "Butter got the official pardon moment. Only one thing: Bread won the White House Twitter poll by 12 points. But of course, the electoral college picked Butter."
Boom.
And arguably that wasn't even his strongest joke of the segment:
"Still, gotta say, bit of a shocker, I'm surprised Bread won the popular vote. I can't believe it's not Butter."
That's why they pay him the big bucks.
