Steve Carell describes the deeply uncomfortable spacesuit he wore for 'Space Force'

Space Force is now mere days away from hitting Netflix, and to mark the occasion Steve Carell popped up on The Late Show to chat to Stephen Colbert about all things space-related — from the origins of the show to his personal thoughts about going to space ("not a tiny bit of me would ever want to do that").

Carell then talks a little about the filming process, and the retro spacesuit he was forced to wear at one stage.

"There's a whole episode where I wear a space suit quite a bit," says Carell. "It was probably a spacesuit from like a 1953 science fiction movie. It wasn't one of the modern suits.

"The arms sort of articulated, but not really, and if you moved too hard you would pinch your arm inside the rim of it. And they had to lower you into it via a small crane because there was no way to just snap it on."

But the worst part? The lack of ventilation.

"There was a fan you could turn on, but only if you were stationary," explains Carell. "If you moved they had to disconnect it, because it had to be hooked up to something. So out in the middle of the desert, running — sorry, no fan."

Hey — who ever said being a member of Space Force would be easy?
