The reputation of Captain Sullenberger, played by Tom Hanks in 'Sully,' remained in peril long after he safely landed an Airbus in the Hudson River.

Clint Eastwood loves his American heroes.

But the story of Captain "Sully" Sullenberger -- played by Tom Hanks -- will be all about the Monday-morning quarterbacking that surrounded the US Airways pilot after he safely landed an Airbus A320 in the Hudson River in 2009. At least if this first trailer is to be believed.

All 155 souls onboard survived. Though most of us remember Sullenberger as an instant hero, his reputation was in peril long after that fateful day.

Warner Bros. will release Sully on Sept. 9.
