A strange plane crash, a missing husband and a talking robot combine in Sunny, Katie Robbins' dramedy about a woman in Kyoto, Japan, trying to find out what really happened to her family.
In the trailer above we're introduced to Suzie (Rashida Jones), whose husband Masa (Drive My Car's Hidetoshi Nishijima) and son have disappeared. Suzie is given a robot called Sunny made by her husband's electronics company, which acts as the first piece in a puzzle that may unlock what really happened to him.
Based on the book The Dark Manual by Colin O’Sullivan, this one looks like a handful of different genres all rolled into one, with Station Eleven and The End of the F***ing World's Lucy Tcherniak directing and A24 producing the series for Apple TV+.
Sunny is streaming on Apple TV+ from July 10.
